The article reveals the problems of multiculturalism, which are considered on the example of one region - the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), as well as various aspects of strengthening federalism and interethnic harmony. The results of a sociological study conducted in four districts of the region in August 2021 on a zoned stratified sample (900 respondents) are analyzed. The dependencies between the formation of regional, all-Russian identities and the nationality of the respondents are revealed. The author emphasizes that there are positive trends in the development of Yakut-Russian bilingualism in the republic. The features of intercultural communication between migrants and the local population of the RS (Ya) are analyzed. Despite the increasing social competition between individual ethnic groups in the labor market, communication between newcomers and local residents is generally calm and conflict-free. Multiculturalism in the region has historical roots, is fixed in the public mentality and continues to be one of the central trends in the development of the Yakut society.
