Interethnic conflicts in the youth environment

The paper addresses the current issues related to the outbreak and settlement of ethnic conflicts in the youth environment. The study substantiates the particular vulnerability of the youth to the contemporary global challenges. The author identifies that the social situation and the developmental psychological peculiarities determine the national identity of the youth, push young people to the edge, intolerance and extremism. The study reveals the influence of mass media on the process of socialization and the formation of values of the modern youth, as well as the features of the culture of interethnic relations in the era of globalization. It is concluded that there is a need to find new ways of forming tolerance among the younger generation. The modern art that has a great impact on the youth plays the crucial role in this process. Special attention is paid to the importance of young people’s ability to engage in effective international dialogue during their education at university.
