Interethnic relations in the Republic of Buryatia: expert community's assessment

The article presents the results of an expert survey conducted in the Republic of Buryatia in 2016 on request of and with financial support from the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Civil Initiatives of the Administration of the Head of the Republic of Buryatia and the Government of the Republic of Buryatia. The study showed that friendly interethnic relations are preserved in the republic; they are more favorable in comparison with the Russian Federation as a whole. At the same time, the experts' opinions were not limited to determining only positive factors. The study emphasizes the need to continue harmonization of interethnic relations as a result of carrying out complex measures aimed at the entire population of the republic as well as in information campaigns with different target audiences. This requires joint consolidated work of state and municipal authorities, public organizations.
