The study discusses the phenomenon of political myth in terms of political being. The relevance of the study is determined by the need to consider the contemporary forms of political reality and the high epistemological potential of the concept of political myth. The analysis of theoretical approaches and interpretations of such social phenomenon as myth reveals the possibility of reviewing the political myth as a special metaphysical system with a number of specific characteristics and the aim of both reproducing and reflecting the political being. The dualistic nature of political myth suggests that it may have an impact on the transformation of political being. The historical backgrounds to political myth, its archaic, regulatory theological and political party forms allow us to affirm that these forms encourage the development of political identity and the establishment of political concepts and categories. Modern forms of political myth differ significantly from previous ones and focus largely on the de-ideologization of mass political consciousness resulting in the widespread use of political absenteeism in society.
