The epoch of the late 20th and early 21st centuries gave rise to a whole system of mythologies in the form of complexly organized figurative and conceptual structures that guarantee the stability of the world order and fit modern man into it. On the material of the novel«Blue Blood» by Yury Buida, the author reviews the three aspects of myth which are key for Russian mass consciousness - modified archaic and Christian myths, and also sociocultural neomyth. On the one hand, the artistic interpretation of the mythologem Mother allows Yury Buida to expose the modern myth as a product of mass consciousness simplifying and distorting the facts of true reality. On the other hand, the modern writer enters into a dialogue with the mass consciousness through archetypal imagery, cultivating his own author's myth.
