The study of migration from the CIS countries to Russia involves an analysis of its various components: socio-economic, sociocultural, legal. It’s possible to outline three most important aspects of this problem. The first - socio-economic view - related to labor migration and the specifics of domestic and socio-cultural adaptation of migrants. The second - macroeconomic view - is interesting from the point of view of the influence of the migration factor on the structure and strategic development of the Russian economy. The third - legal view - i important in the context of illegal migration. The problem under discussion also needs macro-political reflection. It is important to note that the macro-political dimension of migration from the CIS countries to Russia today includes such significant aspects as the problem of growing ethnic and political tension by the accumulation of local societal contradictions between migrants and native people, the transformation of the Russian national-state identity under the influence of migration practices and the role of the «migration factor» in the growth of socio-political turbulence in Russian society.
