The aim of the study was to study the bactericidal properties of a new hygienic animal bedding material. As a result of the studies it was found that the tested bedding material, which is a wood shavings treated by thermochemical and biotechnological methods, provides a normal level of microclimate, which helps to reduce humidity, ammonia, carbon dioxide, dust and the number of microorganisms. The sanitary-poisoning microorganisms of the room air in the monocultures were two orders of magnitude lower compared to the control. In the experimental room for animals with new bedding material the number of microorganisms was lower compared to the control, amounting to E. coli - 18.3 %, St. aureus - 14.2 %, Pr.vulgaris - 27.2 % and Aspergillus - 31.2 % to the total number of microorganisms.
