Microindustry at the Middle-Upper Palaeolithic boundary of Western Transbaikalia (on the materials of Barun-Alan 1 site)

The article is devoted to the investigation of the stone tools' production in the Palaeolithic of Central Asia. In the course of excavations during 2005-2010 years on the multilayer archaeological site Barun-Alan 1 (Western Transbaikalia) new archaeological materials were obtained, it contains microflakes, microblades and tools made on them. In the course of fieldwork it was ascertained that the most of these tools lay in the 7th lithological layer of Barun-Alan 1, forming of which (according to the chronological data) completed from 40000 till 35000 years ago. The main part of the 7th layer microindustry toolkit consists of burins, points, chisels, i. e. items typical for the Upper Palaeolithic. Thus, the most ancient for Transbaikalia microindustry with obvious Upper Palaeolithic character is revealed in the 7th layer of Barun-Alan 1.
