The author examines a number of «sore» points of the current state of evaluation activities, focusing on the so-called «human factor». In terms of the influence of the «human factor» in the outcome of the assessment analyzed the six most common methods of determining depreciation in the assessment of machinery and equipment: examination of the physical condition on a scale qualitative description of the state of objects evaluation, correlation-regression model, analysis of repair cycles, logistic wear, chronological age, and the effective age. Based on the analysis of these methods, concludes that the main source of the error rate of wear is the expert assessment of the physical state of the object; the most correct results can be obtained by applying the method of logistic wear.
