The French Ministry of Finance and Public Accounts in the counterterrorism system in 2006-2016: an institutional aspect

The study examines the activities of the French Ministry of Finance and Public Accounts as part of the French government’s counter-terrorism efforts in 2006-2016. The author identifies the bodies and units of the Ministry involved in countering terrorism in this period. In contrast to Russian historical studies on national security in the modern history of France that focus on the ministries and security forces, the study analyzes the economic tools to combat terrorism available to the French government at that time. The emphasis is placed on the activities of both the Financial Intelligence Unit (CRF/TRACFIN) and the National Directorate of Intelligence and Customs Investigations (DNRED), which is a part of the Directorate-General of Customs and Indirect Taxes (the structural unit of the Ministry of Finance and Public Accounts). The author introduces the unpublished works of the Russian experts in the history of France.
