Missionary Way of the Holy Martyr Andronik (Nikolsky)

The article is devoted to the missionary activity of the holy martyr Andronik (Nikolsky) (1870–1918), the archbishop of Perm and Kungur. Based on archival materials and published sources, the article discusses the features of the missionary ministry of archbishop Andronik abroad, in the Japanese Spiritual Mission, under the supervision of archbishop Nicholay of Japan, as well as in Russia, during the period of Andronik’s labors in the Novgorod, Omsk and Perm dioceses. The author addresses the issue of possible succession by the archbishop Andronik of the missionary practice of Equal-to-the-Apostles Nicholay of Japan, and focuses on the personal missionary qualities of the holy martyr Andronik. It is the Japanese period of the life of the holy martyr Andronik that is the basis of his further enlightenment. The practice of home communication with believers was of particular importance, thanks to which the holy martyr Andronik strengthened himself in the skill of living spiritual care for each member of his flock through sermons, private conversations, joint forms of soulful leisure, the creation of communities of zealots of faith, sobriety societies, public schools, through the printing of religious flyers etc.
