The article focuses on some facts that may prove that Bulgakov’s earlier works can’t be analyzed without the context of humor and satire prose of the 20s and 30s of the twentieth century. When depicting embezzlers, Bulgakov combines realistic features with absurd, phantasmagoric accents referring a reader to classic works by A.S.Pushkin and N.V.Gogol.
