A universal simulation model of suspended matter runoff was developed with the help of system-analytical modeling on the example of rivers of Altai-Sayan mountain country. The model allows the calculation of seasonal and long-term runoff dynamics for arbitrarily selected river basins using only the map data on landscape structure and the basin orography as well as geographically generalized monthly mean air temperature and precipitation, expressed as a percentage of their long-term average values. A method for calculation of the long-term average discharge of suspended heavy metals by the rivers of Altai during the spring-summer floods and summer drought period is proposed. For this purpose, the estimated long-term average concentration of suspended matter and water runoff, and the observation data on the microelement composition of river sediments are used.
