Modelling business processes of an academic department for developing an information system

This article discusses the aspects of creating the typical model of business processes of an academic department using the ARIS methodology. On the basis of the analysis of application of business processes in the field of automation of management systems in higher education, the typical element of the object-oriented model of an academic department has been developed. The ARIS approach was chosen in order to model business processes of an academic department. As a result, a program module of the information system E-Decanat has been developed and implemented, which is responsible for gathering students’ progress indicators. Presented in the article, the model of the process of gathering the progress indicators has a practical value, as it on the one hand helps us carry out a preliminary modelling of the progress control, but is one of stages of creating a reference model of the university’s business processes on the other. The realization of execution of a work unit of gathering the progress indicators can be reused when creating the university’s corporate information system.
