Modeling of ethno-social processes by digital technologies: directions and prospects

The article discusses the use of computer methods in modeling social processes. Bibliometric analysis showed several major directions: elaboration of general questions of theory and practice of information technology in historical research, modeling in historical demography and theory of conflicts. Studies concern both the society in general and its individual parts - social and, less frequently, ethnic groups. The methodology of research using digital technologies has not been sufficiently developed, the relevance of the results obtained remains questionable. Currently, computer modeling cannot be regarded as a standard tool in studying ethno-social processes. However, digital technology makes it possible to shift research from a descriptive and intuitive level to an analytical one.
