Creating the semantic network of the English-language terminology of educational discourse: semantic field "academic degree"

The article considers the possibility of systematizing the English-language educational discourse by modeling the semantic network of the term «education». The construction of the semantic network of the terminology involves the identification of various semantic relations (hierarchical, synonymous, antonymic, etc.), as well as the distribution of terms in the semantic field in accordance with their meaning. The authors describe the process of modeling the semantic network using the example of one of the semantic fields, including the academic degrees used in the United Kingdom and the United States. Based on the conducted research, the authors conclude that the representation of the values of the terms being studied allows us to formulate precise definitions of these terms, which contributes to their clear delineation.
