Model law on narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors: significance and ways of improvement

The significance of the Model Law on Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and their Precursors (adopted in St. Petersburg, November 16, 2006 by the resolution 27-6 at the 27th plenary meeting of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States) for the process of unification of the legislation of CIS Member States on narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances is stated in the article. The reasons for making changes to the specified act are substantiated, and the directions of the work of the composite authors of the Siberian Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in preparing draft amendments to the Model Law for the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security are described.
