At the current stage of the development of art, modern choreography is born by mixing different dance styles and trends that developed throughout the XX century, it exists as a single whole of dance compositions of choreographers and professional performance theaters (performances).

American choreographer Martha Graham defined dance as a genuine expression of the deepest feelings of the soul, released through the movement of the body. Anthropologist Joan Keelyinohomoku gives the following definition: "Dance is a transitory, fleeting way of expression, occurring in a given form and style through body movements" [1].

At present, in the conditions of intensive and global changes, mankind is looking for ways out of crisis and conflict situations [4]. At the forefront are issues of rapid and flexible adaptation of the individual to rapidly changing conditions [5], which is characterized by the level of self-development of the individual.

In pedagogy, the process of personality development is regarded as "a change in the personality under the influence of the laws of development of the psyche, the states of the internal subject, the social situation of his development; is characterized as "change", "creation", "improvement"; as "the development of his worldview, self-awareness, relationships to reality, character, abilities, mental processes, the accumulation of experience" [6].

Self-development of personality is defined as a process of conscious, qualitative and irreversible change by a person of his moral qualities, intellectual and social abilities and abilities, his physical, mental and spiritual forces in order to "complete" himself to the ideal image of an integral personality.

By self-development we mean the desire of a person to change himself and master the means of such a change; A special process that follows other "selfprocesses" and relies on them.

The intensity and depth of the changes taking place in society are reflected in the emotional sphere of each person. In this regard, an interesting and promising work is the self-development of the individual through dance, because dance is the integrator of all aspects of man.

Dance compositions involve a lot of movement of participants in space relative to each other (which creates a variety of drawing of the dance - a change of structure), and also involve the interaction of each participant with others. That is, each participant is in a situation of necessity to move in accordance not only with his rhythm, but also the rhythm of the music, the rhythm of other participants, and also to keep in mind the entire space and all participants. The indicator that all these criteria are kept in the attention of the group is the change of clear and precise drawings of the dance.

A characteristic feature of modern dance is the familiarity with the state of "here and now", which is already supported by the very involvement of participants in this process. This state is connected with the integration of the intellectual, emotional and physical aspects, it can also be called a state of integrity. It is the experience of experiencing such a state itself that leads to harmonization and further self-development of the individual. Preserving this state in his memory (including emotional ones), a person can create this state in everyday life. This, in turn, affects the effectiveness of the process of selfdevelopment.

But the process of education of the creative abilities of the individual only reaches its goal when the process of self-development of the individual is activated and intensified. For the self-development of their natural talents, including the development of their creative abilities, it is necessary to purposeful activity, creative activity, first of all, of the personality, based on scientific knowledge of certain laws, principles and rules [3, p. 192].

Such a process can be intensified especially intensively in the classroom of modern choreography, namely in the process of dance improvisation. Therefore, in the course of classes, the teacher needs to create conditions for the optimal inclusion of the individual in the creative process, since it is in creative activity that her creative potential develops. The productivity of thinking is manifested in the propensity to create and intuitively cognition and creativity: creativity as an expression of the health of the individual is projected onto the whole world and brightens up all activities in which a teenager participates [3, p. 175].

Improvisation (from Latin Improvisus-an unexpected, unexpected, sudden) -method of creativity (in some forms of art), suggesting the creation of a work in the process of free fantasy, impromptu [3]. K.S. Stanislavsky believed that improvisation activates the unconscious potencies of the artist, that it relieves the mind of inertia, that impromptu "refresh, give life and immediacy to our creativity.

In our opinion, the teacher's task is to reveal the potential of the student by the possibilities of modern choreography and dance improvisation without violating the natural let the creative development of the personality by the canonical perception of learning. Creating a favorable emotion and using methods of supporting students on the basis of dance improvisation, the teacher promotes the development of the creative abilities of the individual, consolidates the acquired experience of the students, and also creates the prerequisites for further creative self-development.
