Modernization of libraries and their innovative social practices: the experience of system analysis

The main directions of library modernization and the development of innovative activities of libraries under the influence of this process are considered. The features of the initial stage of the transition of domestic libraries to the modernization path of development are characterized. External and internal factors are presented that necessitate innovative changes in the industry. The innovations occurring in the implementation of the basic functions of libraries are considered: informational, educational, cultural and educational, memorial, social and communicative. Analyzed are new social targets, tools and content of ongoing functional transformations of libraries, allowing them to become a visible structure of the modern information and media environment and the social communication system of the digital age.
