Modus meanings in a non-codified text: perspectives of analysis (on the basis of university lecture notes)

The article describes the specific traits of expression of modus meanings in a particular genre of scientific style - lecture notes written by students, which possess a stable and clear modus organization: they include modus meanings stemming from the speech of a lector and modus meanings created by the student making the notes. The article shows how the perception of the text is modified when various modus meanings are excluded from it. Exclusion of any of these modifies the text’s genre characteristics. Within the scientific style, the listed modus meanings perform the genre-specifying function.
