This paper is an overview of molecular genetic studies of gastric cancer. The characteristics of hereditary genetic changes associated with a high risk of developing the disease are presented. A molecular genetic portrait of stomach tumors is presented in detail. Special attention is paid to somatic genetic and epigenetic changes that determine the molecular features of pathogenesis, and can be diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic markers.
