Evening prayer in Medieval Russia: the order of the methimon according to the 14th century studite Horologion

The article is devoted to studying the worship of the Studite period, which is relevant for modern theology (Western scholars devoted little attention to this question because of the survival of key sources only in Church Slavonic). The article contains an analysis of the Methimon service according to one of the surviving Old Russian Studite Horologia of the second half of the 14th century, which is preserved at the Russian State Archive of Ancient Documents, in the Collection of the Moscow Synodal Press (coll. 381), No. 47 (in comparison with other surviving Studite Horologia). The office of Methimon according to the description of the Horologion Typ. 47, on the one hand, is completely in line with the Studite tradition (contains many similar structural elements), on the other hand, it has a number of elaborations and additions. In this Horologion, the changes in the office of Methimon in the case of a feastday are most clearly shown (the reduction of the hexapsalmos to only Psalm 90 and the reduction of the troparia complex O Lord, Thou knowest the unsleeping vigilance of mine invisible enemies )...
