The food supply of the country is closely connected with the development of livestock. It is impossible to increase the productivity of agricultural animals without taking into account the environmental impact on them. In the conditions of modern industrial complexes, not always existing technologies of keeping meet the physiological characteristics of animals. The purpose of the study is to study milk productivity and duration of economic use of cows, depending on the content system. The research was carried out on cows of 4 enterprises of the Omsk region, which were grouped according to the content system: yard housing and tie-up housing. Computations were made and made conclusions, which influence on the conditions of the maintenance of the productivity and longevity of cows. Performance indicators that are presented in this study are milk yield number of some periods of lactation, the mass fraction of milk fat and milk protein. In addition we have made an evaluation of the duration of productive longevity and the lifelong productivity of cows in enterprises with different animal management systems. The correlation between durations of productive use of cows and their productive qualities are calculated. There was analyzed the genetic potential of cows. The maximum yield was higher in cows with a yard housing system, and amounted to 8.770 kg. The lowest yield was for cows in 11 lactations - 4458 kg. The mass fraction of milk fat for each group was from 3.69 to 4.45 %. The highest content of milk fat and milk protein was in cows in the condition of the yard housing - 4.45 and 3.53 %, respectively. The duration of economic use of cows was higher, life-time yield and milk yield for one day of life in the condition of yard housing system of maintenance. The result of this study is yard housing system is the most beneficial for milk production. Therefore in productive livestock production it is necessary to intensively apply yard housing system for cow maintenance.
