Monasticism and christianization

The period of Late Antiquity is important for understanding of all the further development of the Western civilization. This article is devoted to the research of some aspects of one of the major processes of IV century - Christianization of Roman Empire. The author analyzes the influence of monasticism on distribution and strengthening of Christianity and comes to the conclusion that this influence was ambiguous.
