The paper examines the coins found in 1888 during excavations carried out by A.V. Selivanov at Staraya Ryazan. Their number and circumstances of discovery are clarified. New attributions and chronology are provided for most coins. Possible reasons of their appearance and use in the capital of the Ryazan Principality are explained.
