In this work, the current state of agricultural lands was studied based on GIS technologies using remote sensing materials (multispectral images of medium spatial resolution) on the example of the Novotroitsk rural settlement of the Sargatsky District of the Omsk Region. The study area is located in the forest-steppe zone northwest of the city of Omsk. Multispectral images obtained from the Landsat 8 spacecraft (USA) with a resolution of 30 m per pixel were used. Computer-based processing of a series of multispectral satellite images (MSS) was carried out by means of synthesis method (superposition of the long- and short-wave-length parts of the solar radiation spectrum) using the licensed ENVI 5.0 software package. The work used outdated cartographic materials dating back to 1984 obtained from the Department of Agriculture of the Sargat District. When creating the electronic cartographic material of the area at study (based on satellite data), a digital basis of agricultural lands was initially created. The outdated material was digitized using the QGis software package. For the first time in the area of the forest-steppe zone of Western Siberia, using multi-temporal images from the Landsat 8 spacecraft, spatio-temporal changes in the structure of agricultural lands over the past twenty-five years have been identified. Plots that have passed from the category of arable land to a fallow state and/or were subject to flooding have been pointed out. A partial soil survey was carried out in the study area (with the selection of samples for chemical analysis) to establish the current type of soil in order to update the soil maps.
