Environmental monitoring as a system for ensuring environmental safety

The article focuses on the fact that ensuring environmental safety is impossible without effective state environmental monitoring. The legal basis of the activities of the subjects of the state environmental monitoring system, on the basis of which they carry out observations of the state of the environment, assessment and forecast of changes in the environmental situation, is studied. The unified system of state environmental monitoring is analyzed, the problematic aspects of this system are highlighted and ways to solve them are proposed. It is pointed out that it is necessary to change and supplement the legislation for more effective management of environmental management and ensuring environmental safety with the help of an environmental monitoring system. The necessity of creating a regional environmental monitoring system equipped with modern software for online monitoring of the state of the environment of the Chelyabinsk region is justified.
