Moral values and traditional (customary) norms in the institutional system of crime prevention

Integration of legal and other social norms in the system of prevention of criminal behavior can contribute to the creation of sovereign preventive legislation in Russia and its regions. Ethnocultural and religious rules exert their influence on criminal behavior prevention practices in individual federal subjects. This actualizes the question of the place and role of moral values and traditional (customary) norms in the system of prevention of criminal behavior, their functions in the regulation of social processes, the neutralization of causes and conditions, the formation of law-abidingness, which involves rethinking the prospects of using cultural norms for the formation of criminological legislation. The article suggests directions for the use of moral values and traditional social constraints for crime prevention and subsequent adaptation to direct prevention activities.
