This article discuss the results of an experiment conducted to demonstrate the effect of a surgical intervention - cystostomy on the body of experimental rabbits. Where the operation was carried out on 20 linear male rabbits, Soviet chinchilla breed with a body weight of 3500g. Various studies were conducted such as clinical examination, ultrasonography and morphological analysis. The preoperative ultrasonography revealed that, the bladder of intact rabbits, with a concentrated feeding type, contains a hyperechoic suspension. Whereas, further tests show the presence of desquamated urinary tract epithelium and crystals of calcium phosphate salts. However, morphological studies did not show any destructive changes in the structures of the kidneys and bladder. During a staged ultrasound and morphological examination in the postoperative period, the absence of a negative effect of a veterinary catheter on the organs of the urinary system was approved. The changes observed in the early stages can be attributed to the postoperative response of the animals’ body.
