Morphogenesis of the Tungir depression (North-Eastern Transbaikal)

The article for the first time gives a brief generalized geomorphological description of the Tungir depression, which is one of the extreme northeastern links of negative landforms of the Olyokma region of Central and Eastern Transbaikal. We have presented the basic morphometric indicators of the basin with the allocation of three relatively independent (Sivilukskaya, Cheremnaya and Gulskaya) depressions, which are at the same time combined into a single system through the network of the Tungir river basin. The article describes the main features of the basin geological structure and indicates the rocks involved in morphogenesis. Based on the created classification of exogenous processes of morphogenesis and the developed principles for their mapping, we have compiled a map of the modern processes of medium-scale morphogenesis, and gave a brief description of the basin development under the influence of contemporary exogenous processes. The predominance of fluvial, cryogenic and cryogenic slope processes has been revealed in modern morphogenesis of the depression. The phenomena characteristic of morphogenesis and development of the main features of mari landscapes peculiar to the Far East are observed within the depression.
