Еlectron and atomic-force microscopy revealed the morphological differences of bacterial surface structures of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis depending on the temperature of cultivation. Microbes cultivated at low temperature (~10 °C) are equipped with flagella and have more visible capsule-like layer than those cells which were cultivated to 37 °C. The increase of cultivation temperature to 37 °C causes the formation of an electron dense uneven cell wall, which appears to be a factor in the adaptive defense reaction of the bacteria.
