Moscow library institute in the Russian library education system

The article is devoted to the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Moscow State Institute of Culture. The publication reflects issues related to the process of the emergence of library education in Russia. L.B. Khavkina's contribution to the organization of the first library courses at the University is shown. Shanyavsky. The contribution of N.K. Krupskaya to the formation of the library staff training system and its role in the organization of the Moscow Library Institute is outlined. The article discusses the problems associated with the creation of the material and technical base of the university, the formation of educational programs. The role of the first director of the university, G.K. Derman, in the formation of a new educational institution is reflected. The results of the activities of the Moscow Library Institute in the five year and ten year anniversaries of the university are summarized.
