Based on the compilation, the article defines the essence and meaning of motivation as an element of the personnel management system and the organization as a whole, as well as its types and stages. Financial and non-financial ways of stimulating staff, as well as situations that may affect motivation, are considered. The reasons for the preference of the organization's employees for financial incentives for motivation are given, while emphasis is placed on the short-term nature of their influence, and the prolonged effect of non-financial incentives for staff motivation on the effectiveness of the organization's functioning is determined.
