The problem of personnel motivation is particularly relevant in the context of digital transformation of all spheres of society's life. This is due to the fact that in the digital economy, the new main factor of production is information and knowledge, the carriers of which are people. Digital transformation is not limited only to the introduction of digital technologies in the organization's activities, but also determines its complex transformation, in order to quickly adapt to new conditions and challenges. The article defines the concept of the digital economy, provides analytical information that characterizes the level and pace of digitalization, and defines the features of the motivational mechanism in the context of digital transformation.
