The article presents the results of a study of the motivation of professional development conducted among teachers in the city of Norilsk. It was revealed that the motivators can be both external conditions: salary increase, recognition of colleagues and respect for the manager, and internal - the desire for self-realization and creativity. The motivation of the teacher changes with increasing length of service towards self-realization. The article formulates the main methods of stimulating the professional development of a teacher in an educational organization.
