The article shows theoretical views on the concepts of "virtual communities", "motivation", "religious orientation", and also presents the results of an empirical study aimed at identifying the features of motivation in choosing sites for religious and formally religious adolescents. The study showed that despite on the level of religiosity survey participants spend time on Internet sites as needed, consciously choose virtual groups, and selectively approach their social networks. This problem has been little studied and requires further research.
