Motives of “tuul-uliger” (archaic epos) in the heroic epos “Dzhangar”

Studying of epic poems of different ethnic groups proves that general categories of epic genre are based on invariant kernels. In this research is proposed reconstruction of the archaic epos on materials of songs of the Bagatsokhurov cycle “Dzhangar” earlier not taken into consideration. The theory of invariant nuclear motives of “tuul-uliger” (the archaic epos) developed by A.Sh. Kichikov was confirmed by identification of lacking in previous studies structural elements. The research shows nuclear motives of the archaic epos which basis was courtship of bogatyr-type heroes: search for bride, movement of Dzhangar-hana through the worlds in search of bride, marriage communications with the representative of the Water world, god-fighting motive of battle and victory of Dzhangar-hana over the representative of the Top world, not inevitable death of the hero, etc., going back to the mythology and to the previous epic traditions. Results of the research also demonstrate that the theory of “originally kernels” is quite applicable to early cycles of the Kalmyk epos “Dzhangar”, that kept archaic nuclear motives which are going back to the mythological roots of the epos. Prologs of the songs could become independent plots of “tuul-uliger” (the archaic epos) from which, according to the theory of “an initial kernel”, are developed nowadays existing songs of the Bagatsokhurov and Maloderbetov cycles of “Dzhangar”.
