The article reviews questions, arising at the intersection of environmentalism and philosophy on the example of one of the most specific objects of research in the modern world – garbage (industrial and vital waste). It shows that garbage as objects, excluded from the biosphere and decommissioned by man, is part of the emerging technosphere and, as a result, should be explored primarily from the philosophy of technology. The study raises an issue of insufficient efforts of individual branches of knowledge (humanities, natural science, technical) to solve a pool of emerging interdisciplinary problems and tasks affecting not only the human environment, but also his subjectivity. The author puts forward the hypothesis about the possibility of considering the relation to the problem of garbage as a moral and existential test for a person.
