Muslims in the history and culture of Primorsky krai: problem statement

The study reviews the urgent issue of Muslim history and culture in Primorsky Krai, as the number of Muslims in the region has increased due to labour migration over the past decade. A research of the problem just begins in the Far-East of Russia, because the Muslim congregation is generally a new religious structure for Primorye. All publications related to the theme are observed and analyzed. The study emphasizes the confessional version of history created and spread by Muslim congregations. The author compares the scientific and confessional approaches to the historical studies, detects the historical myths and concludes that the theme should be further researched. The periods of Islam history in Primorsky Krai are proposed by the author, and their specific characteristics are presented. The term ‘new Muslim congregations’ is introduced, and its essence is revealed.
