Museum representation of iconograpfy in the fist years of Soviet power

The article is devoted to the representation of icon painting in the museum space, the study of its strategies and specific practices that existed in the first years of Soviet power. Analysis of the exposition and exhibition activities of museums allows us to distinguish two fundamental approaches: according to one of them, the icon is presented as an artistically valuable work of ancient Russian painting, according to another, the icon is shown as an object of religious life, illustrating the history of religion, the system of religious and moral philosophy of ancient Russia man and this very life in its concrete real embodiment.
