The paper examines the activities of the museums of the Yenisei Province in organizing the sphere of cultural leisure, emphasizes their role in diversifying the leisure practices of the townspeople of the province in the first half of the 1920s, as an insufficiently studied phenomenon in the history of leisure. The focus of the study is the activities of two museums of the province - the State Museum of the Yenisei Region (Krasnoyarsk) and the Museum. N.M. Martyanov (Minusinsk). The essence and content of socio-cultural practices are revealed - visits by citizens to museums, the possibilities of which the state authorities sought to use as efficiently as possible in the formation of the Soviet way of life. The organization of educational activities by regional authorities is singled out. The materials of local printed publications are used, which paid great attention to the issues of organizing free time “in a new way”, “in a Soviet way”, as a source of verification of the available information about leisure activities. The features of the period under review are, firstly, the use of leisure by the state as one of the tools of socio-economic transformations, and secondly, the media as a conductor of official discourse and a means of feedback. The details of the practices of visiting museums and the nature of their work are studied through the prism of the perception of the residents of the province themselves. The main historiographic trends within the framework of the stated topic are presented. The source base of the study was the periodicals of the Yenisei Province, Eastern and Central Siberia, for the first time put into circulation archival materials. The methods of content analysis and system analysis were used. According to the author, the results obtained are important in terms of source studies for studying the socio-cultural processes of the early Soviet society in the regional aspect, and the information space of the local press fully represents the dynamics of processes in the field of cultural leisure.
