Music education in a globalized culture (by a case study of the Republic of Dagestan)

This article deals with the Russian system of music education in the context of globalized modern culture. It is noted that in the Republic of Dagestan globalization challenges are exacerbated by the influence of the culture of the Arab-Muslim world. In this context, the role of universities is urgent during the formation of the cultural environment of the region, in particular educational institutions broadcasting universal values. The paper indicates the significance of music education implemented in school-academy-university system in cultural space of Dagestan. The study reveals the relevant issues of music education, describes the operating environment for this type of education based on interaction of global space with cultural traditions of the region. The author notes that in the current circumstances, the considerable role in preserving the credibility of music education belongs to the proficiently developed strategy of regional cultural policy, as well as the state programs aimed at integrating regional culture into pan-European cultural context.
