The picture of the general condemnation with which the attempt on the life of D. V. Karakozov against Tsar-Liberator Alexander II. The terrorist’s act was condemned by representatives of various parties, both „left“ and „right“. Genuine delight at the same time caused the feat of the Kostroma peasant O. I. Komissarov, who saved the tsar from death. These patriotic feelings are reflected in the literature in the poems of N. A. Nekrasov, F. I. Tyutchev, A. N. Maikov, in the epistolary responses of I. S. Turgenev, in the reaction of F. M. Dostoevsky and in the works of K. N. Leontiev. In the responses of famous poets and writers, despite the difference in their views, the traditional folk attitudes towards the tsar were reflected. Even the liberal Turgenev, in letters to friends, expressed „disgust for the ugly act“ of Karakozov and refused to recognize him as „Russian“. The senseless regicide of 1881 received the same unanimous condemnation in society. The first publication of Nekrasov’s poem „Osip Ivanovich Komissarov“ in 1866 is being specified.
