The article focuses on the analysis of political relations between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina during the period before the uprising in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1875 - 1878. At the beginning of the XIX century the lands of Bosnia and Herzegovina were in the sphere of interests of the foreign policy of the Principality of Serbia: Serbian politicians considered this territory as a part of the new Serbian state, destined to unify all Serbian people. In 1840-s and 1860-s I. Garashanin was engaged in preparations for the uprising in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The author comes to the conclusion that in 1868 Serbia gave up active preparations for the rebellion of Christian population of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as for the armed attack against the Ottoman Empire. Despite the plan to unify all Serbians into one Serbian state, Bosnia and Herzegovina being the major part of that plan, in 1868 Serbia reconsidered its preparations for the uprising under the influence of Austro-Hungary. Despite that fact, Ilija Garashanin's activities within the program of "Na-chertanije" on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina became the foundation for the uprising of 1875 - 1878.
