In today’s world, multi-ethnic coexistence in one country is a relatively common phenomenon. The national and state identities of transnational ethnic groups in multinational countries and their relations with the ethnic majority are important and complex social issues that are a priority for the country’s leadership. In Russia and China such a transboundary ethnic group is the Orochon (the Evenki). The article analyzes the current state of life of this ethnic group in China, identifies the reasons for the national and state identity of the Orochon people, their difference from the Russian Evenks, identifies negative factors that hinder the inheritance of the ethnic minority culture by the younger generation, describes ways the Chinese government is taking to preserve and develop the Orochon culture.
