National economy of Azerbaijan in the system of international trade and economic relations

Azerbaijan has long been actively involved in world trade in its geographical location. The famous “Silk Road”, the routes of rich caravans in many directions passed through the ancient lands of Azerbaijan. There are still preserved ancient and medieval buildings of shopping centers, a caravan of sheds, which became monuments of antiquity. The traditional trade in wool, cotton, silk, oil, cloth, fruit and vegetables, salt, jewelry, handicrafts by gunsmiths and potters and many others played a huge role in the prosperity of the Azerbaijani state at different periods of its existence.
