National policy and ethnopolicy in modern Russia: problems of interpretation and differentiation of subjects of reference

The article deals with the problems of the implementation of national and ethnic policy in the Russian Federation in the context of world experience. The paper emphasizes that the national policy should be aimed at forming the foundations of the political and cultural-ideological unity of citizens, as well as at the socio-economic development of the state as a whole. Meanwhile, the author reduces the essence of ethnopolitics to activities aimed at preserving the ethnocultural identity of the country's ethnic groups.
