The article deals with comperative analysis of representation of the concept «labour» in the Russian and English language systems. The analysis is based on the study of proverbs which are considered to be cultural elements of world perception process of both ethnic groups. Possessing universal character proverbs reflect specific way of living of any of these ethnic groups, their major values through their attitude towards labour.
