National council on Mongolian studies as a mechanism of forming a modern national idea for Mongolia (2014-2015)

The article considers the activities of the National Council for Mongolian Studies organized in 2014 according to the Decree of the president of Mongolia Ts. Elbegdorzh. The author analyzes the purpose and tasks of the Council. The main objective of the Centre is formation of the new modern national idea in which the Mongolian studies are of great importance. The National Council has done a large and versatile work directed to strengthening both scientific potential of specialists in Mongolian studies, and international image of the country in general. Among the most successful results of the Council’s activities, the author notes two publishing projects: the publication of selected collections of works of the well-known scholars in Mongolian studies and the publication of unique written legacy monuments of Mongolian peoples.
