The article gives us the first characteristic of a rare taiga community - a larch forest with Larix sibirica, Rhododendron parvifolium and Caragana jubata in the subalpine belt of the Kitoy Alps in the Irkut river valley. A hypothesis is put forward on the cenogenesis of subalpine larch forest in the ridge-slope habitat in the landscapes of the Ilchir natural boundary and is recommended to be included in the list of original forest phytocenoses of Baikal Siberia.
